THE CHALLENGE

Worcester Academy—an independent school for students grades six through post-grad near Boston, MA—needed to replace over 50 pages of uninspired copy for their forthcoming redesign that didn’t reflect the school’s unique value and spirit.

Working closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, school leadership, department heads, and the design team from UBIQ Education, I delivered informative and emotionally resonant copy that celebrated the school’s community, philosophy, and sense of place—distinct benefits that were previously lost.

  • Crafted high-level copy—headlines, CTAs, body copy, callouts—creating a compelling narrative for target audiences while optimizing readability and flow.

  • Distilled complex educational philosophies and programming into accessible and storied messaging.

  • Advised on site map page navigation for a more efficient and effective user journey.

  • Worked with UBIQ Education—website design and hosting company—to synergize content and design features, for a truly compelling and effective user experience.

  • Project managed site messaging from discovery through launch—interviewing school leadership and key department heads, and executing content edits for visualreadability in site CMS.

  • Consulted on design features, providing feedback at various stages to elevate and ensure project success.

To showcase the rich opportunities for both students and staff, we devoted an entire page—“Our City”—to highlighting the world just beyond school walls.

This page was developed to convey the key benefits of the WA experience—and to do so in a way that was compelling and authentic. The result is a robust page that leads users through an inspiring and informative journey—at the end of which, they will be able to answer the ever-important question: Why Worcester?

To capture the school’s inclusive spirit, I devised the “WE ARE” concept, which—upon scrolling—reveals key differentiators in a welcoming and empowered tone that invites prospects to envision themselves as part of this special community.
